General Statement of Duties
The Director of Marketing leads all marketing and communications functions for the Hult Center, with responsibility for managing staff, external vendors, and promotional strategy for both “Broadway in Eugene” and other Hult Presents programs. The position is responsible for managing the marketing team and supervising the Marketing Manager, overseeing daily team operations, marketing campaign development, budgeting, and external partnerships. The Director makes decisions that directly affect the success of income-generating programs and is responsible for the development and execution of advertising, media and PR strategies, including digital and traditional ad placements, inventive content creation, and community marketing engagement. Often these strategies are in conjunction with external production partners. The role involves both strategic planning and operational management. In addition, as a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Marketing participates in overall strategic planning and cross-departmental coordination. This position reports to the Hult Managing Director.

Examples of Duties Performed – Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee and mentor the marketing team, including supervision of staff, daily workflow management, and performance development.
- Direct, create, review and approve all marketing and communications campaigns related to Hult programming to ensure brand alignment, creativity, and effectiveness.
- Participate in cross-departmental coordination with Programming, Community & Creative Learning, Ticketing and Operations teams to ensure consistent messaging and collaborative planning.
- Direct and execute comprehensive and timely marketing and communications strategies for the Broadway in Eugene series, including campaign development, implementation, and performance tracking, in collaboration with our Broadway partners.
- Contribute to organizational strategy as a member of the Director-level Senior Leadership team, providing insights into patron behavior, performing arts trends, and integration with citywide marketing efforts (LRCS).
- Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, designers, and marketing partners to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Guide the team in executing content strategy and patron communications across all platforms, including community outreach, stepping in to perform these duties as needed.
- Represent the organization professionally in industry and marketing associations, building peer networks and staying informed on best practices.
- Oversee marketing budget planning and administration, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with departmental goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Five years of professional Marketing experience developing, implementing, and managing programs, projects, and/or personnel functions within a performing arts setting, including two years in a full supervisory role.
Education/Training:
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Marketing, Communications or related field(s).

Knowledge of:
- Current marketing theories, principles and practices across digital, print, and experiential/outreach platforms
- Campaign development for performing arts or live entertainment audiences
- Audience development strategies, including those focused on acquisition and retention
- Branding and storytelling principles that span multiple genres of performing arts
- Social media and content strategy tools and trends; Media buying, promotions, and public relations for cultural events
- CRM and email marketing platforms (e.g., WordFly, Tessitura, etc.); as well as Adobe and Microsoft Office suites
- Analytics tools and marketing KPIs (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights)
- Ticketing and box office dynamics in relation to marketing campaigns and needs
- Budget development, financial oversight, and detailed accurate financial reporting
- Staff goal setting, mentoring, performance measurement and evaluation methodologies
Ability to:
- Lead, inspire and uplift a marketing team while fostering individual growth and accountability
- Translate strategic goals into clear, creative marketing plans and campaigns
- Collaborate effectively across departments (e.g., Programming, Community & Creative learning, Ticketing) within the Hult, as well as in the City, and with other community organizations
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and shifting priorities, with humor and grace
- Craft compelling narratives that resonate with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Build and maintain productive relationships with media, vendors, and community partners
- Analyze and respond to audience data and trends to inform marketing decisions
- Communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and in person – verbal presentation skills are necessary
- Represent the organization in professional marketing settings with diplomacy and enthusiasm
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy, quality, and attention to detail in all work
- Work varied hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
