The Florida Orchestra seeks Vice President of Development.

Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with The Florida Orchestra in the search for a Vice President of Development.

As a proven leader in nonprofit philanthropy with a record of securing transformational gifts, the Vice President of Development (VP) will play a central role in advancing the financial strength and long-term sustainability of The Florida Orchestra. The VP will lead strategies to generate more than $8 million annually in contributed income while helping position the organization for continued growth and impact. Working closely with the President & CEO, Board leadership, and a committed community of donors, the VP will cultivate, solicit, and steward major and principal gifts that support TFO’s artistic and community initiatives. This role will also help leverage and strengthen the Orchestra’s approximately $35 million endowment, ensuring that philanthropic investment and long-term assets together sustain the organization’s mission and strategic ambitions.

The Vice President of Development will manage and expand a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, cultivating and stewarding high-impact, meaningful relationships while growing the major donor base. This role combines strategic relationship management with data-informed fundraising practices to sustain and increase major gift support.

Celebrating its 58th season in 2025–26, The Florida Orchestra is recognized as Tampa Bay’s leading performing arts institution, the largest professional symphony orchestra in Florida, and one of the most vibrant and innovative orchestras in America. Its mission is to enrich life across the Tampa Bay region by inspiring, entertaining, and educating a broad and diverse audience through the unique experience of live symphonic music, ensuring that future generations continue to enjoy a legacy that celebrates the human spirit. The Florida Orchestra employs 70 full-time professional musicians and conductors under the artistic leadership of internationally acclaimed Music Director Michael Francis. The organization operates with an annual budget of approximately $16 million.

Through its concerts and innovative education/community programs combined, TFO serves more than 150,000 residents annually, nearly half through free or low-cost programs. The Florida Orchestra performs nearly 100 concerts annually utilizing ten venues throughout the tri-city area of Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Petersburg. Most concert performances take place at Ruth Eckerd Hall, the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and the Mahaffey Theater. Concert series include the Hough Family Foundation Masterworks Series, the Raymond James Pops Series, the Soundwaves Chamber Orchestra Series, and the Morning Matinees Series. Special performances include rock and movie concerts, free Pops in the Park, and a variety of educational concerts. The Florida Orchestra exists to INSPIRE-EDUCATE-UNITE and serves as a leader and beacon for the musical arts in Tampa Bay and throughout the state.

A bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of experience developing and managing an institutional philanthropy program are required. This experience must include grant writing and management, as well as cultivating and stewarding donor relationships. The Florida Orchestra will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to TFO, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé. Cover letters should be responsive to the mission of The Florida Orchestra and the responsibilities and qualifications specified in the position prospectus.

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $155,000. The Florida Orchestra offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match; and generous paid time off.

If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, or participating in the selection process, please contact Millie Taylor at millietaylor@aspenleadershipgroup.com.
