I remember reading MEAT SCIENCE ESSAYS in 1963-64,
One essay in particular, Drug Notes… Peyote, Heroin, Cocaine… made a very deep impression on me.
I was introduced to the *Peyote Cactus in 1962, and experienced the dried buttons several times before getting to read McLure’s essay.
I found McLure’s essay on drugs to be a comforting read from a fellow traveller, a clear and comprehensive report on an astonishing psychedelic substance.
I explored raw Peyote buttons after reading the essay.
* As far as psychedelics go, I found Peyote to be the bees knees on skis, in a breeze.
