An article by Rafael Sorin in the French newspaper Le Monde, from February 25, 1972, about untamed literature, Cut Up or Shut Up, “the ‘Cut-Up’ movement” and Nova Broadcast Press, points out that “by blurring the line between press rumors and advertising, the ‘cut-up’ works against the language of totalitarian government, whose ‘magical, authoritarian, ritual elements’ Marcuse has described in One-Dimensional Man.” It drew this untamed response 54 years later from S/U’s staff of thousands.
