Which is remarkable, except that neither did many writers of the highest esteem. Was he considered for it? You’d certainly think so, given his record of achievement. But his death yesterday at the age of 88 secured one more inglorious miss for the Nobel committee. Does it matter? Not really. Yet it should be noted by those of us like David Erdos, who valued his worth almost beyond measure.
