The Artful Manager

Andrew Taylor on the business of arts & culture

Off to NYC

January 7, 2010 by Andrew Taylor

I’m traveling to New York tonight to participate in both the Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference and the International Society for the Performing Arts conference. Both promise different perspectives on the state of the live performing arts. And both offer the glorious opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and friends from around the world.

A team of my MBA students will be presenting again this year at Arts Presenters, as part of the annual Bill Dawson Research Initiative. Their topic is access for the performing arts — how leading organizations are striving to connect audiences with artists, even when there are significant barriers blocking that connection (physical, economic, cultural, and so on). This will be our fifth Dawson presentation. And they always forge a fabulous conversation in the room. The session is on Sunday, January 10, at 9:00 am.

If you’re around Arts Presenters and/or ISPA, flag me down. It’s always nice to meet my blogger brethren in the physical world.

    Hi Andrew!
Let us know how Frank Warren from PostSecret did. I’ve always wanted to hear him speak and I often consider him for speaking engagements I book.
