The Artful Manager

Andrew Taylor on the business of arts & culture

Focusing on the day job

August 31, 2009 by Andrew Taylor

Classes begin this week in the Wisconsin School of Business MBA program, and I’ve got a fresh batch of brilliant students straining at the gate. As such, I’ll be focusing on the tidal wave of planning, prep, logistics, and advising that accompanies the start of each school year, rather than posting to my blog.

I’ll be back after Labor Day with new thoughts, links, and reflections. In the meanwhile, browse some of the other fantastic bloggers on ArtsJournal!

    Hey Andrew,
If you need some fodder for a September blog posting…
Here’s an interview with our latest Cultural Manager in Residence: John Abodeely, Education Manager, Americans for the Arts…

And here’s the skinny on our Cultural manager Residency program, which seems to be a rare thing (and quickly gaining traction).

Over the past year, we’ve hosted a handful of American cultural managers, including the Arts Commission administrator for the City of Madison, the Dean of Special projects at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the executive director of Djerassi Resident Artists Program, the President of Maine College of Art, and most recently, John from AFTA.
Would love to start spreading the word…
