On Brilliant Corners trumpeter, active blogger and close listener Steve Provizer not onlyhat-and-robe-in-parade names ballads that he believes don’t get enough attention, he also presents them in performance. The extent to which some of his song choices are generally ignored may be in the ear of the behearer—as Dewey Redman might have said (in fact, did say as an album title). There can be little doubt about the relative obscurity” of Blossom Dearie singing “L’Etang,” but how about Sonny Rollins doing “How Are Things in Glocca Morra?” In any case, if you go here you’ll find all ten (!) clips.
