SOAP TALK

July 15, 2005 by Tim Riley

SM: I am scared that Nate is going to hook up with George’s daughter on 6FU. Or maybe they are leading me to think that and something worse will happen. Or nothing at all. I love that it’s getting unpredicable now. One of my friends is convinced that Billy will kill someone. Maybe Billy and George should live together. I feel bad for George–the first really mean thing Ruth ever does turns out to be the absolute worst. She fascinates me.

TR: Nate is floundering, and definitely interested and thinking about George’s daughter, esp. when Rachel gets all self-involved again, although SHE’S PREGNANT WITH THEIR BABY. Billy is a STONE KILLER, that actor has a huge career ahead. Neat how they twisted that George story around so he got to shame Ruth at his doorway. I feel absolutely nothing for Ruth, I think she’s a creepy self-righteous blockhead, can’t imagine any man wanting to sleep with her. The role is unforgiving, and the acting is mannered and over-deliberate. Her “knitting circle” buddies were totally hacky and unpersuasive. Really glad they’re giving Rico and Vanessa a big story line, she’s a standout too. Too many standouts among standouts.
