We have found no explanation of why Chris Smith and Cody Cox were substituting for Michael Moore and Randy Jones, Brubeck’s regular bassist and drummer.
It’s Cory, not Cody, Cox–a New School Jazz student of mine and Brubeck Institute alumnus. He and Chris Smith–a former New School student of mine–were subbing for that gig only, so Cory tells me.
Oops. I’ll notify the Worcester Telegram GazetteDR
Brubeck told me that his regular rhythm section had another gig, so Russell Gloyd recruited the two students from the Brubeck Institute. He said, “We won’t be rehearsing, they know my tunes.”
