    “The Met” is and has long been their brand and this actually speaks volumes about the Museum’s identity that is simply and emphatically stated. I also like the negative space within the letters–kind of Ellsworth Kelly-ish (though I am sure he would not agree)! The old logo was ok, I suppose, but it harks to their Beaux-Arts origins and architectural/archaeological foundation which may not be the message the museum wants to send to younger audiences, especially in light of the Met-Breuer progamming that has the potential to transform our understanding of the historical richness of the Met’s holdings that do indeed inform much of the best and most important works of contemporary art. Just saying…
