I read that while getting onto the piano stool he remarked, "Is you all on, Fats?"
It's a precious thing; always to be remembered with a smile.

A friend of mine once remarked of the sadness in remembering jazzmen who had passed on. An exception was 'Fats'Waller. All memories of him always elicited a smile. My own personal favorite 'quote' by him is on his recording of 'Relaxin' at the Waldorf'.
'Hey what's in them biscuits.....Yeah, what's in 'em?
