A Man Grown Silent in the Praise of God

The Dessoff Choir’s March 6 performance of my Transcendental Sonnets, based on poems by the Transcendentalist poet Jones Very and conducted by James Bagwell, is now up on my web site:

1. The Son
2. Enoch
3. Love
4. Faith
5. The Word

I thought it was the best ensemble performance I’ve had in my life. (It’s the two-piano version, not the orchestral version.)

Comments

  1. Bravo!

  2. Very generous of you to post this. Thank you.

  3. Ernest Ambrus says:

Thank you for making this available. I love it.

  4. Paul Muller says:

Just had a listen to all the movements – gotta say the choir and soloists did a great job. The two piano version leaves the voices ‘out there’ and they were up to the challenge.
Very accessible piece – quiet, gentle. Fits the text beautifully.
KG replies: Thanks very much, Paul.

    Kyle,
this sounds great. so much easier to hear the intricacies of the chorus (and the intricacies of the lyrics) with the two piano arrangement. though, i admit, i did like those orchestrations (especially in “Faith”)
    but this sounds very fresh.

KG replies: Hi, Akie. Yeah, they did a great job. Maybe someday I’ll hear the orchestral version done with this same clarity.
