Being the Boss

April 7, 2015 by Gail Crider Leave a Comment

Staff PicksNAS produces publications, videos and other management tools to inspire those working in the field to take a fresh look at their work and the challenges they face. Over the last few years we have amassed quite a large catalog of content. We’ve sent NAS staff members into the archives to pick their favorites and share them here. This week NAS’ President & CEO, Gail Crider, shares one of her favorite NAS videos.

Brian Kennedy, Executive Director of the Toledo Museum of Art speaks about the book Being the Boss: The 3 Imperatives for Becoming a Great Leader, through his own perspective as an experienced leader. I really appreciate Brian’s clear synopsis of this book and the context he adds. He reminds me of the challenges of being a good manager and leader – that it’s complicated; that one has to set context and priority for others, sometimes in the midst of chaos; that it is a journey within myself and with others; and, thankfully and hopefully, that we learn and adapt as we go.

And, I love the birds singing in the background, like a chorus.

Book club anyone?
