John Horn

I am a staff writer at the Los Angeles Times, where I have been covering the film business since 2002. Before joining The Times, I was a senior writer for Newsweek magazine, also covering entertainment. I previously was a senior editor for Premiere magazine, and served as the entertainment writer for The Associated Press and as a staff writer for The Orange County Register. As both a former fellow and long-time member of the NAJP's advisory board, I believe I have hands-on knowledge of both the benefits of the program and the mechanics of its operation.

My hope is to restore the NAJP primarily as a fellowship-focused program at a leading university other than Columbia. I am a trustee for the Humanitas Prizes, which awards cash prizes for positive depictions of human values in film and television, and a member of the board of The Union Station Foundation, the largest service provider for the homeless in Los Angeles' San Gabriel Valley.
