In addition to extensive radio work for MONITOR RADIO and STUDIO 360, his work has appeared in the THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE WASHINGTON POST, THE ATLANTIC, TRUTHDIG and HUFFINGTON POST.<br \/>\n<BR><BR>His <A href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/riley\/archives20050101.shtml#95350\" target=_blank>Leonard Bernstein<\/A> piece was singled out by <A href=\"http:\/\/www.furious.com\/perfect\/index.html\" target=_blank>Perfect Sound Forever<\/A> for its <A href=\"http:\/\/rockcritics.com\/jasongross2005_1.html\" target=_blank>Best Music Scribe 2005<\/A> list, compiled by Jason Gross, and his books are assigned in a variety of college courses on pop culture at schools like Eastman, Vanderbilt, the University of Michigan and Indiana University. <B>Tell Me Why: A Beatles Commentary<\/B> (Knopf\/Vintage 1988) was hailed by Jon Pareles in the New York Times as bringing &#8220;<A href=\"http:\/\/query.nytimes.com\/gst\/fullpage.html?res=940DE5D81330F93AA25755C0A96E948260&#038;n=Top%2fFeatures%2fBooks%2fBook%20Reviews\" target=_blank>new insight to the act we&#8217;ve known for all these years&#8230;<\/A>&#8221; It is currently available in an updated second edition from Da Capo. Other titles include <B>Hard Rain: A Dylan Commentary<\/B> (Knopf\/Vintage 1992, Da Capo 1999), <B>Madonna: Illustrated<\/B> (Hyperion 1992), and <B>Fever: How Rock&#8217;n&#8217;Roll Transformed Gender in America<\/B>, appeared in paperback in June of 2005 from Picador.
