Thanks to all of them. I hadn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t forgotten.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8409\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Ramsey-Desmond-ca-1974.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Ramsey-Desmond-ca-1974.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Ramsey-Desmond-ca-1974-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of Desmond\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most dedicated admirers, Svetlana Ilicheva, wrote from Moscow suggesting that Desmond\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s solo on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Out of Nowhere\u00e2\u20ac\u009d from a 1966 London radio broadcast would constitute a suitable memorial. Ms. Ilicheva explained that James Dobernig, whom she identified as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153one of us,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d sent her links to this and &#8221;\u00a0several other Desmond\/Brubeck videos. The solo is one of his most adventurous. He doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t perfectly execute everything he tries for, and part of the fun is hearing him blow back on course. The counterpoint at the end of the performance revives a practice that helped to make Brubeck and Desmond&#8221;\u00a0famous early in the life of the Brubeck Quartet.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QNTmOm4_0ic\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Here are the names of the the full cast: Dave Brubeck , piano; Paul Desmond, alto saxophone, Eugene Wright, bass; Joe Morello, Drums.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The publisher of <em>Take Five: The Public and Private Lives of Paul Desmond<\/em> would take to drink if I failed to remind you that the book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Take-Five-Public-Private-Desmond-ebook\/dp\/B00DLTK7I2\/ref=sr_1_1_twi_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1419809360&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=public+and+private+lives+of+paul+desmond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">is available as an ebook<\/a>.
