The 2017 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters will be honored at the John F. Kennedy Center Washington, DC. They are pictured above. Here are the NEA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s descriptions:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00ef\u20ac\u00bdDee Dee Bridgewater<\/strong>, vocalist, producer, broadcaster<br \/>\n<strong>\u00ef\u20ac\u00bdIra Gitler<\/strong>, author, editor, producer, educator<br \/>\n<strong>\u00ef\u20ac\u00bdDave Holland<\/strong>, bassist, cellist, composer, bandleader<br \/>\n<strong>\u00ef\u20ac\u00bdDick Hyman<\/strong>,&#8221;\u00a0keyboardist, composer, arranger<br \/>\n<strong>\u00ef\u20ac\u00bdDr. Lonnie Smith<\/strong>, organist, composer<\/p>\n<p>All but &#8221;\u00a0Gitler, who is ailing, will be present and are expected to speak. Gitler\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s son Fitz will represent him. At 7:30 p.m. Eastern time, the NEA will stream the event live on its <a href=\"http:\/\/arts.gov\">website<\/a>. National Public Radio will carry it at <a href=\"http:\/\/NPR.org\/Music\">NPR.org\/Music<\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the NEA announcement:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The concert will include performances by NEA Jazz Masters Paquito D\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Rivera and Lee Konitz, as well as Bill Charlap, Theo Croker, Aaron Diehl, Robin Eubanks, James Genus, Donald Harrison, Booker T. Jones, Sherrie Maricle and the Diva Jazz Orchestra, Peter Martin, Mike Moreno, China Moses, Steve Nelson, Kassa Overall, Chris Potter, Dianne Reeves, Nate Smith, Dan Tepfer, and Matthew Whitaker.<\/p>\n<p>For further information, see the <a href=\"http:\/\/arts.gov\">NEA site<\/a>.
