It may have been my book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Birdland-Broadway-Scenes-Jazz-Life\/dp\/0195085507\/?_encoding=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;keywords=From%20Birdland%20To%20Broadway&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;qid=1446599733&#038;s=books&#038;sr=1-1&#038;tag=rifftidougram-20\"target=\"_blank\"><em>From Birdland to Broadway<\/em><\/a>, in which I tell about the Note and Al the Waiter. There wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t a place for comment there any more, so I put it here.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That book by Bill and his second one, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Jazz-Anecdotes-Second-Time-Around\/dp\/0195187954\/?_encoding=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;keywords=Bill%20Crow&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;qid=1446600125&#038;s=books&#038;sr=1-1&#038;tag=rifftidougram-20\"target=\"_blank\"><em>Jazz Anecdotes: Second Time Around<\/em><\/a>, are full of stories about jazz and jazz musicians, many of them from his first-hand observations. The Frishberg post that he refers to was on <em>Rifftides<\/em> in June of 2007. Evidently, the publishing platform disables comments after a few years. It doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t disable the items, though, and you can still read Frishberg\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s reminiscences about one of the great jazz clubs, its denizens and the colorful family who ran it. I just reformatted the piece and added a color photo of Mr. Frishberg.
