Today&#8217;s predicted high is 110&#8243;\u00b0. Public health officials are urging people to seek air conditioning, walk slowly, drink lots of water, be cautious when cooling off in the rapidly flowing rivers and think twice before accepting outdoor gigs. We are assured that blessed relief is on the way. The forecasters predict that by Wednesday, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be down to 104&#8243;\u00b0.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate, we listen to two pieces from the 1954 Shorty Rogers-Andr\u00c3\u00a9 Previn album <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Collaboration-Rogers\/dp\/B000027V4I\/?_encoding=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;tag=rifftidougram-20\"target=\"_blank\"><em>Collaboration<\/em><\/a>. In the project, the pattern was for one of the leaders to arrange a standard song and the other to write an original piece on the harmonic framework of the standard.
