I admire Larkin&#8217;s poetry more than his reactionary jazz criticism, so I celebrate him half enthusiastically. Nonetheless, it is a reason to call your attention to a Larkin poem we recently posted, along with one by Miller Williams, during the discussion of Tom Sancton&#8217;s book <em>Song For My Fathers<\/em> about growing up in New Orleans and in traditional jazz.
