He is a counselor to musicians who takes to the web to address problems that are often so sensitive that his clients find it necessary to use clever pseudonyms (\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ted,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for instance) to protect their livelihoods and reputations. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mr. P.C.,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of course, is not a pseudonym. It is the given name of the Seattle pianist \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Bill Anschell,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d which is a pseudonym. Here is an exchange from Mr. P.C.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most recent posting. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Dear Mr. P.C.:<\/p>\n<p><em>Philosophical question for you:  How can I be more like myself than I am?<\/p>\n<p>I was at a rehearsal before a high-profile gig, and the bandleader took me aside to tell me I was playing fine, but needed to &#8216;play more like Ted.&#8217;  <\/p>\n<p>Is this even possible?                                                                                                     \u00e2\u20ac\u201dTed<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dear Ted:<\/p>\n<p>Of course it is \u00e2\u20ac\u201d you just need to start copping your own licks! Transcribe them, learn them in all 12 keys, and you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be playing more like yourself in no time.<\/p>\n<p>Of course if you sound too much like yourself you may wind up stealing your own gigs, which can cause resentment and self-loathing.
