The shimmering complexity of his arrangement of Samuel A. Ward\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 1892 title tune portrays his affection for the country. That track and his eight other pieces reconfirm Broadbent\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s stature among jazz composers and arrangers.  His original works include what he calls a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153study\u00e2\u20ac\u009d on the Gillespie-Parker intro to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153All The Things You Are,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d an evocation of Billy Strayhorn, <em>homages<\/em> to his mentor Woody Herman and to pianist Sonny Clark, a fantasy on New Zealand and a reexamination of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Love in Silent Amber,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d which Broadbent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Brand-New-Woody-Herman\/dp\/B00004SAZZ\/?_encoding=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;keywords=Woody%20Herman%20Brand%20new&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;qid=1398740619&#038;s=music&#038;sr=1-1&#038;tag=rifftidougram-20\"target=\"_blank\">wrote for Herman<\/a> when he was 23.
