Hardly a week goes by without news of a large or small bookstore, including those owned by chains, going out of business somewhere in the US. Yakima, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Bookstore-Going-Out.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Bookstore-Going-Out.jpg\" alt=\"Bookstore Going Out\" width=\"250\" height=\"187\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5562\" \/><\/a>Washington, the longest running of the Ramseys&#8217; many hometowns, has an independent bookstore that does well because this reading community supports it. That is in no small part because Inklings Bookshop (pictured below) stays keyed into the town and the region, with a flair for promotion and special events. One of Inklings\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 biggest book soirees takes place tomorrow. The store is bringing together 12<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Inklings.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Inklings.jpg\" alt=\"Inklings\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-5563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Inklings.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Inklings-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a> authors to talk about and sign their books. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be signing copies of <em>Poodie James<\/em>. The book fair will be near the store in the building of a former library branch that expanded to bigger quarters; I told you, folks around here read a lot. The place is empty now, so they suggested that each of us bring a table, a chair, a poster and cookies to offer browsers. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yakimaherald.com\/entertainment\/1979931-8\/local-author-fair-features-diverse-mix-of-writers\"target=\"_blank\">Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a link<\/a> to a story about the event that includes word sketches of the authors.
