This was on the French Cote d\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Azur in 1966. We see glimpses of Paul Gonsalves, Russell Procope, Cat Anderson, Buster Cooper, Jimmy Hamilton and the other members of the \u00e2\u20ac\u212266 band, even one of Tom Whaley, Ellington&#8217;s indispensable arranger and copyist (at :37). The video clip melds smoothly from rehearsal into performance and features chorus after chorus of Johnny Hodges deep into the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Old Circus Turn-around Blues.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"440\" height=\"355\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/thx5QVk6tGY?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><p>That track ended up as part of the eight-CD album <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Cote-DAzur-Concerts-Verve-Fitzgerald\/dp\/B00000AFEM\/?_encoding=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;keywords=Duke%20Ellington%20Cote%20d&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;qid=1382939558&#038;s=music&#038;sr=1-2&#038;tag=rifftidougram-20\"target=\"_blank\">Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington Cote d\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Azur Concerts<\/a>. The box is still around, expensive as a new CD set, but possible to find used at a reasonable price, or as an MP3 download.
