Until fairly recently, the octogenarian alto saxophonist\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s demanding schedule had him in clubs and at festivals throughout Europe. One of those events was the Darmst\u00c3\u00a4dter Big Band\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s <em>Kentomania<\/em> tour featuring music written for Stan Kenton\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s band by Bill Holman, Gerry Mulligan, Bob Curnow and others. Geller is featured here in Bill Mathieu\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s arrangement of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Django\u00e2\u20ac\u009d by John Lewis. In addition to Geller\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s solo, the performance is notable for the resounding bottom notes provided by the brass section\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s two bass trombones.<\/p>\n<p>This was in 2010, when Geller was only 81.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FrFCtkJONNY?rel=0\" height=\"355\" width=\"440\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/darmstadter-big-band-cover.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4825\" alt=\"darmstadter big band cover\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/darmstadter-big-band-cover.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"134\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the only evidence we have been able to uncover that it exists\u00e2\u20ac\u201d pictured on the right\u00e2\u20ac\u201dthe Darmst\u00c3\u00a4dters and Geller made a record of the Kenton project. Although the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterlinhart.de\/Home.html\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> of the band\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s leader, Peter Linhart, lists such an album in its CD section, there is no information about how to acquire it.
