Brubeck died last December at the age of 91. Along with, no doubt, hundreds of others I will be at the service in the cavernous Cathedral Of St. John The Divine on the upper west side of Manhattan. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Brubeck-Head.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Brubeck-Head.jpg\" alt=\"Brubeck Head\" width=\"76\" height=\"76\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4727\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Brubeck-Head.jpg 76w, https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Brubeck-Head-70x70.jpg 70w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 76px) 100vw, 76px\" \/><\/a>A little known video of a Brubeck quartet performance recently surfaced. The other musicians are Jerry Bergonzi, tenor saxophone; Chris Brubeck, electric bass; and Randy Jones, drums. The piece is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153All My Hope\u00e2\u20ac\u009d from Brubeck\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mass <em>To Hope: A Celebration<\/em>, which premiered in 1980.  This section of a Montreal television broadcast is almost certainly from 1980 rather than 1981, as <em>YouTube<\/em> indicates.
