Jim Brown\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s comment about that item <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Current-Konitz.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Current-Konitz.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Current Konitz\" width=\"150\" height=\"153\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Current-Konitz.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Current-Konitz-70x70.jpg 70w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>described the effect on him of Konitz\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s new quartet with a rhythm section of young European musicians who, in Jim\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s words, spur Konitz to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153new heights of creativity.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/p>\n<p>Since the <em>Rifftides<\/em> staff is on the eve of a vacation of at least several days and blogging will be infrequent, if at all, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re going to leave you with an hour-long video of Konitz and a band of colleagues who are decades younger&#151;chronologically. He turned 85 on October 13. The pianist is Florian Weber, the bassist Jeff Denson, the drummer Ziv Ravitz. Someone who identifies himself as <em>doriangrey27<\/em> uploaded the video to <em>YouTube<\/em>. He (or, who knows? she) has our gratitude. <\/p>\n<p>The concert was at the Internationale Jazzwoche in Burghausen, Wackerhalle, Germany, on March 15th of this year. Konitz has played the pieces in this program for years, always managing to find in them ways to surprise his audiences and himself.
