Welcome to you all.<br \/>\nWenatchee, my home town (funny I should mention that), is The Apple Capital of the World and the Buckle of the Power Belt of the Northwest. The masthead of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wenworld.com\/\"target=\"_blank\"><em>The Wenatchee World<\/em><\/a> has made that clear since long before I began my career in journalism launching copies of the newspaper onto subscribers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 porches.  I will be visiting Wenatchee tomorrow. The occasion is the annual Wenatchee Jazz Workshop, an annual event that brings student players together with a faculty of world-class musicians. I have been asked to speak preceding a concert featuring the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hamiltonjazz.com\/trio.html\"target=\"_blank\">Jeff Hamilton Trio<\/a> with Tamir Hendelman and Cristof Luty, trombonist <a href=\"http:\/\/music.unlv.edu\/faculty\/paulson.shtml\"target=\"_blank\">Bruce Paulsen<\/a>, tenor saxophonist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vibratogrilljazz.com\/calendar\/index.php?calview=event&#038;event_id=387&#038;year=2006&#038;month=01&#038;day=12&#038;lastview=month\"target=\"_blank\">Tom Peterson<\/a>, trumpeter <a href=\"http:\/\/gilbertcastellanos.com\/about\/gilbert.html\"target=\"_blank\">Gilbert Castellanos<\/a>, and the Wenatchee Big Band. The kids are in good hands.
