One of the most respected of the musicians who flourished on the west <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Bud-Shank.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Bud-Shank.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Bud Shank\" width=\"113\" height=\"142\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2672\" \/><\/a>coast in the fifties, he went on to gain worldwide popularity. Shank was especially popular in Brazil, whose music he was one of the first American jazz artists to adapt when he made the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&#038;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FBrazilliance-1-Laurindo-Almeida%2Fdp%2FB000005HH3&#038;tag=rifftidougram-20&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325\"target=\"_blank\"><i>Brazilliance<\/i> recordings<\/a> with guitarist Laurindo Almeida in 1954.
