So are the rivers around here, swollen with snowmelt from the mountains, and roaring. Here&#8217;s some of what I saw on a ride this afternoon, a section of the Yakima roaring along muddy and almost into the fields and towns. In the upper center, you see an enormous tree that the force of the water tore out of the bank somewhere upstream.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Yakima-High-Water.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Yakima-High-Water.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Yakima High Water\" width=\"400\" height=\"301\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2658\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Yakima-High-Water.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Yakima-High-Water-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nFifty yards from the river, all was serene.
