It has to do with Vince&#8217;s ability to make lemonade.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When he climbed up on the bench and began his first tune, however, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/Guaraldi%20akimbo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Guaraldi akimbo.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/assets_c\/2009\/12\/Guaraldi akimbo-thumb-100x130-12231.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"130\" class=\"mt-image-left\" style=\"float: left; margin: 0 20px 20px 0;\" \/><\/a>something ominous occurred. There was an entirely dead note on the piano. Guaraldi halted the song and looked into the middle distance with an expression of deep bemusement.<br \/>\n&#8220;Here&#8217;s trouble,&#8221; I predicted to Ms. Hoffman.<br \/>\nGuaraldi tapped the dead note, tentatively at first, then with increasing violence. THUNK, THUNK, THUNK.
