H<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 20px 20px; WIDTH: 104px; HEIGHT: 96px\" height=\"117\" alt=\"Hot Cargo.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/Hot%20Cargo.jpg\" width=\"120\" \/>er accompaniments by Harry Arnold&#8217;s big band and Duke Jordan&#8217;s trio sound equally fresh. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/rifftides\/2008\/06\/ernestine_andersons_predicamen.html\" target=\"_blank\">I wrote earlier <\/a>that this was one of the best vocal albums of the 1950s. I am revising that assessment. It is one of the best vocal recordings of the last half of the twentieth century. Sweden&#8217;s Metronome label originally released this perennially new collection as <em>It&#8217;s Time For Ernestine<\/em>. Mercury issued the LP in the US two years later and called it <em>Hot Cargo<\/em>, despite the disapproval of its producer, B\u00c3\u00b6rje Ekberg, and Anderson.
