A trombonist from Chicago, Partyka leads a formidable big band and chairs the Jazz Institute at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. Mentored by the late Bob Brookmeyer, Partyka uses in his teaching and his writing much of what he learned from Brookmeyer. Having absorbed that influence, he developed his own unique and identifiable orchestral style. The Ed Partyka Jazz Orchestra\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s two most recent albums reflect a distinct musical personality and, often, his relaxed and refreshing approach to serious music. A performance of that piece featuring Benny Brown on trumpet &#8221;\u00a0and Reinhold Schm\u00c3\u00b6lzer on Drums is the lead track in Partyka\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s album <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Kopfkino-Ed-Partyka-Jazz-Orchestra\/dp\/B07CR11VZ6\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kopfkino<\/a><\/em> (Mons Records). The second recent release by his orchestra is <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Tradition-Ed-Partyka-Jazz-Orchestra\/dp\/B07H5QR924\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">In The Tradition<\/a><\/em> (Neu Klang Records).
