My frequent companion <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bianchiusa.com\/05_vigorelli.html\"target=\"_blank\">Vigorelli Bianchi<\/a> and I went for a twenty-mile ride full of ups, downs and early morning beauty in the hills of orchard country. Back home, I wrapped up a two-day <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-rcps.com\/pasta\/breads\/ciabatta.shtml\"target=\"_blank\">ciabatta<\/a> project and baked four loaves, then made a dinner that also featured salmon, pasta with pesto and a homey 2000 <a href=\"http:\/\/winegeeks.com\/wines\/258\"target=\"_blank\"><em>La Loggia<\/em> Barolo<\/a> from Trader Joe&#8217;s. The wine is not a triumph of the Piedmont, but it worked with the meal. A classic (read expensive) Barolo would have fought with the salmon. The <em>La Loggia<\/em> was a bit pinot noirish and suited the fish and the pasta. For dessert, we had gelato and espresso.<br \/>\nThe music I listened to in the kitchen was off the paisan track: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&#038;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FBach-Cello-Suites-Nos-1-6%2Fdp%2FB000002RUY&#038;tag=rifftidougram-20&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325\"target=\"_blank\">Rostropovich<\/a> playing Bach&#8217;s solo cello suites.
