Nonetheless, I serve as a talking head in <em>Every Cook Can Govern: The Life, Work, and Impact of C.L.R. James<\/em>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/clr-james-film-launch-every-cook-can-govern-tickets-21773531218\">premiers in London<\/a> at the end of the month, with the DVD scheduled to be available in April. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/quickstudy\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/clr-james.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-777\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-777\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/quickstudy\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/clr-james-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"clr-james\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/quickstudy\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/clr-james-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/quickstudy\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/clr-james-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span data-offset-key=\"d3qgm-2-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">The questions the filmmakers asked were well-informed and intelligent, and the director says they&#8217;ve got some incredible archival photographic and audio material. The page linked above gives an example: a photo of CLR in his prime, speaking in front of a large audience &#8212; no later than about 1940, I would say.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\" data-offset-key=\"d3qgm-2-0\"><span data-text=\"true\">Coincidentally, but happily, this coming Friday (March 25th) the journal <em>New Politics<\/em> will hold an event to celebrate and discuss the first publication of a talk James gave in 1971 on Oliver C.
