Why does everyone keep telling me there are no freelancers? I would think the city would be crawling with freelancers, since all the staff writers are getting laid off. <\/p>\n<p>2. I neglected to mention how cool <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/09\/21\/arts\/music\/21thom.html?_r=1&amp;ref=music&amp;oref=slogin\">this<\/a> was last week. Pshaw to <i>The New Yorker<\/i> for simply printing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/online\/2008\/08\/25\/080825on_audio_adams\"><u>excerpts<\/u><\/a> of John Adams&#8217; autobiography; here we have the esteemed Michael Tilson Thomas previewing his own concert! I could do without the mini-me paragraph openers [&#8220;It was thrilling, but it fed on itself.&#8221; &#8220;By the early &#8217;70s he realized the danger.&#8221; &#8220;These were the years of the tours from hell.&#8221; &#8220;His music took a darker cast.&#8221;], but I don&#8217;t think MTT is quitting his day job any time soon, and I&#8217;m something akin to the Princess of Run-On Sentences [Exhibit A], so it&#8217;s fine. <\/p>\n<p>Nico Muhly can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/2008\/08\/brave-newish-world.html\">review reviews<\/a> of his own music, and Michael Tilson Thomas can preview his own Carnegie Hall performance in the <i>Times<\/i>.
