It really did feel like the first day of school, despite my complete lack of children. I had my not-trying-too-hard plane outfit picked out and everything. The season&#8217;s starting, which means many things, including (but not limited to) me having to wear more make-up and fun (free!) CD release events. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m en route to the sunnier coast because Nico Muhly has two albums coming out on Decca in a few weeks, and I&#8217;m handling the PR for them. [Fairly to moderately unrelated, you can read Nico and me causing trouble (aka &#8220;co-blogging&#8221;) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/2008\/10\/lets-give-em-something-to-writ.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/2009\/07\/scene-and-not-heard.html\">here<\/a>.] Nico will be speaking about composing on his MacBook Pro and performing at the Apple Store in Santa Monica tomorrow along with the LA Master Chorale, with whom he recorded <i><a href=\"http:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/album\/a-good-understanding\/id389863674\">A Good Understanding<\/a>. <\/i>If you&#8217;re in the Los Angeles area, come on out and say hello. Both of Nico&#8217;s Decca albums, <i>A Good Understanding <\/i>and<i> I Drink the Air Before Me, <\/i>come out on September 21. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, back on the New York City ranch, Hilary Hahn, who is also very friendly, is having a CD release affair for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Higdon-Tchaikovsky-Violin-Concertos-Hilary\/dp\/B003YOMNCM\">her new disc<\/a>, which also comes out on September 21 (lucky me!). This event takes place at the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe on September 20.
