I’m behind on my Daily Shows<\/i>, so I just watched the one with Newsweek editor <\/i>Jon Meacham this weekend. Jon Meacham, who was a trouper and did NOT cancel his appearance–which was most likely booked to promote is new PBS show Need To Know<\/i><\/a>–on the day The Washington Post<\/i> decided to sell his magazine. Sadly, they did not get to talk about the show, but I was really blown away by his interview: <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

“I do not believe that Newsweek <\/i>is the only catcher in the rye between democracy and ignorance, but I think we’re one of them”?  Seriously? I wish I could bust out sentences like that. I can’t even write sentences like that, let alone throw them out there in a studio-audience-interview situation. Too bad he didn’t actually get to answer why The Economist <\/i>is doing so well.
