In addition to the Lady Gaga comparisons over at OperaChic<\/i><\/a>, here are a few of my own thoughts on Angela Gheorghi’s new press photos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Elvira:<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n

Most commenters over at OperaChic<\/i> are Not Pleased, adding thoughts like, “Nobody is teaching these donnas how to age gracefully and with dignity,” “<\/span>Good God, whatever was the poor woman THINKING of?” and “<\/span>Sometimes after a breakup women go through a phase of trying too hard!” to the post.  <\/span>Others were thrilled, though, writing in, “<\/span>This is fabulous. Maybe I should fly somewhere to see Angela” and “<\/span>I love
\nit. I’m sick of Netrebko and Renee doing the floaty butterfly Mariah
\nCarey look. This is actually cool, trendy, and edgy. Viva Angela.” <\/p>\n

Without knowing what this shoot is for (a CD cover? general press use? an online-only portfolio?) I won’t comment on its effectiveness, but I disagree that this is a case of “trying too hard.” <\/span> Gheorghi looks perfectly comfortable, which is more than we can say for some singers standing in front of a black or grey backdrop in red, green or black evening gowns.
