The waitress could not give me an explanation, though I received several e mails (none from Lincoln Center) suggesting that Alice Tully is a union house and those rules probably extend into the cafe area, so while they wouldn’t technically mind if I used their electricity (click here for some hilarious commenter math on how much I owe the hall), a stagehand would have had to plug in my computer for me. I mean…fine. Rules are rules.

Or. Are. They.

No they are not, it turns out! On December 14 at 1:54PM we were alerted via Lincoln Center’s Twitter feed about a change in policy.

Maybe we should all have a victory Campari party around the plug seat some time soon? I’ll just Tweet when I’m there next and we can all gather round the plug and raise a glass. Let’s just try and not spill anything in the one plug, OK?

Regarding the new Atrium, I need to investigate. It looks beautiful from the outside.

Just one thing, if I may, Lincoln Center: I’m told many classical music presenters in the UK have automated ticket booths, like we have at movie theaters, train stations, etc.. Wouldn’t those look great in the Atrium??

Last week, I was told I was not allowed to plug in my MacBook Pro at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall cafe.
