{"id":176,"date":"2009-01-26T07:02:52","date_gmt":"2009-01-26T07:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/wp\/?p=176"},"modified":"2009-01-26T07:02:52","modified_gmt":"2009-01-26T07:02:52","slug":"youre_gonna_be_popular","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/2009\/01\/youre_gonna_be_popular\/","title":{"rendered":"You&#8217;re gonna be pop-ular"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was looking at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/index.php\">Playbill.com<\/a> and got very confused by the top banner ads:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wicked1.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/Wicked1.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"104\" width=\"400\" \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<div><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wicked2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/Wicked2.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"43\" width=\"400\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div>I thought, &#8220;I can&#8217;t imagine anyone calling <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wickedthemusical.com\/page.php\">Wicked<\/a> <\/i>&#8216;ferociously funny&#8217;. And I&#8217;ve never seen it described anywhere as a &#8216;new comedy&#8217;.&#8221; I refreshed &#8211; refreshed &#8211; refreshed the page and, to my surprise, got to this:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wicked3.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/Wicked3.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"48\" width=\"400\" \/><\/span>Why are you using the <i>Wicked<\/i> colors, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.2st.com\/seasonShow.php?show=4\"><i>Becky Shaw<\/i><\/a>?? &#8220;&#8230;newlywed couple fixes up two romantically challenged friends: wife&#8217;s<br \/>\nbest friend, meet husband&#8217;s sexy and strange new co-worker.&#8221; No one mourns the wicked, sexy and strange color-stealing co-worker!<\/p>\n<p>Upon closer Photoshop inspection, I may have overreacted: the <i>Becky Shaw<\/i> green is Pantone 366 C and the <i>Wicked<\/i> green is 382 C, but it&#8217;s pretty close. Do we think Second Stage intentionally channeled <i>Wicked <\/i>ads to get our attention? If they did, it worked for me.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"wicked-logo4.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/wicked-logo4.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"596\" width=\"400\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was looking at Playbill.com and got very confused by the top banner ads: I thought, &#8220;I can&#8217;t imagine anyone calling Wicked &#8216;ferociously funny&#8217;.
