{"id":147,"date":"2008-12-01T10:03:31","date_gmt":"2008-12-01T10:03:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/wp\/?p=147"},"modified":"2008-12-01T10:03:31","modified_gmt":"2008-12-01T10:03:31","slug":"peer_pressure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/2008\/12\/peer_pressure\/","title":{"rendered":"Peer Pressure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My college roommate was in town this weekend and informed me about the completely nauseating <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/11\/29\/business\/29walmart.html?bl&amp;ex=1228194000&amp;en=c7382f26209af6ce&amp;ei=5087%0A\">Wal-Mart stampede incident<\/a>. &#8220;I read it on the <i>Times<\/i> site this morning,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It was in the &#8216;Most E mailed&#8217; column; that&#8217;s how I get all my news.&#8221; Now, this is a girl who&#8217;s getting her PhD in East Asianist History at Yale, so I strongly doubt the &#8220;Most E mailed&#8221; column is her one source of current event intel. That said, I see a &#8220;Most E mailed&#8221; list and I generally read through those articles\/blog entries first, whichever site I&#8217;m on. Most presenter and orchestra websites already have &#8220;Send to a Friend&#8221; buttons on their concert listings, so why not have a &#8220;Most E mailed&#8221; section on their homepages? Other tabs could be &#8220;Most Blogged&#8221;, &#8220;Most Read&#8221; and &#8220;Most Commented&#8221; concert pages, although <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joespub.com\/\">Joe&#8217;s Pub<\/a> is the only presenter website I&#8217;ve seen that allows comments on their concert listings. <\/p>\n<p><i>The New York Times<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/pages\/arts\/index.html\">Arts Section<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Most-E-mailed.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/Most-E-mailed.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"432\" width=\"450\" \/><\/span> <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pitchforkmedia.com\/\">Pitchfork<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><\/i><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Most-Read.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/Most-Read.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"501\" width=\"450\" \/><\/span>Perez Hilton <a href=\"http:\/\/www.perezhilton.com\/\">dot com<\/a>: <\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Most-Commented.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/lifesapitch\/Most-Commented.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-center\" style=\"margin: 0pt auto 20px; text-align: center; display: block;\" height=\"271\" width=\"450\" \/><\/span>(It seems the most commmented posts on Perez Hilton are the ones with the most punctuation in their titles.
