Estate sues jazz club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.milescafe.com\/ny\/\">Miles Jazz Cafe<\/a>, a low-key, off-the-mainline music loft in midtown Manhattan, is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/g\/a\/2011\/08\/19\/bloomberg1376-LQ71KC0D9L3501-0QE8NFRLC1CHU36FQ8G2Q2PK9S.DTL\">being sued<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.milesdavis.com\/us\/news\/estate-of-miles-davis-official-site\">the estate<\/a> of trumpeter Miles Davis for copyright infringement, citing use of the musician&#8217;s silhouette as &#8220;free-riding on the goodwill associated with the Miles Davis marks&#8221; in a way &#8220;likely to mislead the public.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/jazzbeyondjazz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/milescafe.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-504\" title=\"milescafe\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/jazzbeyondjazz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/milescafe.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The perpetually photogenic Davis was represented by a silhouette on album covers of his early 1960s Columbia albums <em>Seven Steps to Heaven, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Sketches-Of-Spain\/dp\/B00138H1RS\/?tag=howardmacom-20\">Sketches of Spain<\/a> and Quiet Nights<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0Compare the logo of the bare-bones third-floor room run by Satoru &#8220;Miles&#8221; Kobayashi, who says the late jazzman urged him to take the name in a dream, with that famous image or other pictures of MD holding his horn.Same trumpeter?
