Boston-based Madavor counts <span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">International Figure Skating<\/span>, <span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">Volleyball<\/span> and <span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">The Best of Northeast Gol<\/span>f among its &#8220;core titles,&#8221; having acquired <span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">Doll<\/span>, a long-established UK collector&#8217;s periodical, in June 2008 and four regionally-oriented golf titles last September.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nSelf-described as an &#8220;enthusiast publishing firm,&#8221; Madavor was founded in 2004 by Jeffrey C. Wolk and is listed as a subsidiary of Zilpin Group LLC, publishing consultants. &#8220;The Power of Passion. The Energy of Enthusiasm&#8221; is Madavor&#8217;s motto, derived from the translation of the Sanskrit word after which it&#8217;s named. The company&#8217;s web-site states<\/p>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color: rgb(38, 56, 107); font-family: Verdana; font-size: 11px;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"webkit-indent-blockquote\" style=\"margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;\"><p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color: rgb(38, 56, 107); font-family: Verdana; font-size: 11px; \">Madavor offers unique ways to communicate with focused, enthusiastic consumers who are eager to learn more about products and events that support their interests.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The description would seem to apply well to those who seek to read about jazz.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Madavor&#8217;s purchase of <span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">Jazz Times<\/span> was reported in an &#8220;Arts, Briefly&#8221; item written by<span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic;\"> New York Times<\/span> music critic Ben Ratliff, based on an interview he had on Sunday with <span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">Jazz Times<\/span>&#8216; editor-in-chief and former publisher Lee Mergner.
