The American Composers Orchestra’s Jazz Composers Orchestra Initiative<\/strong> rides again<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0— application deadline April for a two part intensive beginning August 2015.<\/p>\n

I blogged about at length<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0about the Buffalo Philharmonic’s 2013 reading of\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0first symphonic works by five highly skilled performer-composers who otherwise would be hard-pressed get a chance to write for such an ensemble. As Newton told me,\u00c2\u00a0“I\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>dream of the day\u00c2\u00a0when we have an orchestra that has a mission to work with musicians coming out of the jazz tradition to produce new work, and also to play the great works written<\/span>already.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Wouldn’t that be something to hear?<\/p>\n
