Let us not insult the Bush regime’s nominee for Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice by impugning
\nher integrity or credibility, as she claimed Sen. Barbara Boxer did in yesterday’s Senate
\nconfirmation hearing<\/FONT><\/B><\/A>. After all, pointing out her contradictory
\nstatements disturbs the nominee. It offends her dignity. And, gosh, Ms. Mushroom Cloud
\nherself says she respects the truth. (Shame on you, Sen. Joe Biden, for telling her she
\nwas full of “malarkey” when she maintained that 120,000 Iraqi troops have
\nbeen trained.) Nor should Americans or anyone else be offended by Ms. Mushroom Cloud’s
\ninsensitive characterization of the tsunami catastrophe as “a wonderful opportunity” for the
\nregime to promote its diplomatic goals. And most certainly, she should not be held
\naccountable for helping to sell the war in Iraq from “a marketing perspective”<\/FONT><\/B><\/A> (White House Chief of Staff
\nAndrew Card’s term). “New products” are sold that way, so why not a war? Coincidentally, a new
\nLos Angles Times poll out this morning finds that “Support for War in Iraq Hits
\nNew Low”<\/FONT><\/B><\/A> among Americans. Not that it makes much
\ndifference. A majority still supports keeping U.S. troops there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
