We landed at JFK and pulled up to the gate in the early<br \/>\nayem. But the gate (a k a &#8220;the jetway&#8221;) was not there. Apparently our arrival was unexpected,<br \/>\nalthough we&#8217;d boarded a regularly scheduled flight. So we waited. And waited. And waited some<br \/>\nmore. The cap&#8217;n came on with an apology for the delay. There were occasional updates. &#8220;We&#8217;ve<br \/>\ngot an electrical problem. The mechanics are all over it.&#8221; Other developments followed. At last<br \/>\nthe cap&#8217;n came on again. &#8220;The jetway is approaching the aircraft.&#8221; I don&#8217;t believe in UFOs, but<br \/>\nthat line put me in mind of them.
