Tell me the war will be over soon? It won&#8217;t.<\/BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<P><\/P><br \/>\n<P>It is Lt. Paul Rieckhoff, an Army infantry platoon leader who spent 10 months in the most<br \/>\ndangerous areas of Baghdad, in an <A class=inline\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/10\/29\/nyregion\/29profile.html?oref=login\"\ntarget='new\"'><B><FONT color=#003399>interview<\/FONT><\/B><\/A> published this<br \/>\nmorning.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>You&#8217;d think it was Graham Greene who is venting his disillusionment with ideology. But it is<br \/>\nnot:<\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE>It was <I>their<\/I> emperor, not ours, who had the nerve to mount the<br \/>\nrostrum and declare he had no clothes. And the ideologies trailed after these impossible events<br \/>\nlike condemned prisoners, as ideologies do when they&#8217;ve had their day. Because they have no<br \/>\nheart of their own.
