Meet the Press had a political panel this weekend that looked like a poker game for mummies.<\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/p>\n<p>Read the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/6106292\/\">transcript of the mummies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re <a href=\"http:\/\/jameswolcott.com\/archives\/2004\/09\/emmy_notes.php\">not the only jokers<\/a> who get him steamed. The other day, he lambasted this year&#8217;s recent Emmy Award winners, not as mummies but as their opposite: dithering idiots.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>These are supposedly professional actors who, stepping on stage to accept an award, babble and hyperventilate and act like they just won a high school contest. Cynthia Nixon &#8220;umm&#8217;d&#8221; between every other word in her acceptance speech.
